Letter To The President Elect

Dear Sir,

First of all, kindly accept my sincerest apology for my distinct lack of understanding for protocol.

Congratulations for winning the presidential election. Your Vision, Determination, and Perseverance is an Inspiration to us all.

As the real work commences I am under no illusion as to what can and can't be achieved during the next four years.

Let's begin with the fight against corruption. It would be foolish of me to believe that corruption can be wiped out in four years. It would most likely take a couple of generations to even get half way. But what we hope for and expect of you during the next four years is that the speed and depth of corruption is reduced.

Nigeria's Education system has been on a steady decline for over two decades. The consequences are fairly catastrophic, with the sub-standard level of most graduates leading to an astronomical increase in unemployment. We need to get back to basics by investing properly and wisely in our education system - paying good salaries for quality teachers (let's make the Teaching Profession something to be proud of again), and providing the necessary facilities for students to flourish.

The level of Unemployment is in a Critical state; finding a solution to get our graduates off the streets and into respectable places of employment is no longer a fanciful desire but an absolute necessity.

Electricity is fast becoming a lost /forgotten word in Nigeria. In my opinion the state of electricity has never been as bad as it has been during the past three / four months. Can Nigeria ever have uninterrupted light? I'm really starting to wonder.

Boko Haram has become a scourge on this nation; not just in terms of lives lost and the constant fear of the next incident, but also because of the psychological damage done to a Nigerian army that was once the pride of Africa. Boko Haram needs to be tackled head on as soon as you take your oath of office. As well as this, our armed forces must be made strong and vibrant once more; only this time 100% Professionally and zero percent politically.

Finally, surely something can be done to remove ethnic and religious divisions/ tensions  from politics!? This is something I want to encourage you to look into; paving the way for a truly united Nigeria.

So, if someone was to ask me what I would expect from My President during the next four years I would say "All of The Above" - Reduce Corruption, Set the foundations for a Vibrant Education System, Destroy Boko Haram and Significantly Improve Security,  Drastically Reduce Unemployment, Seriously Improve the Electricity situation, and Build a Truly United Nigeria - based on Love, Peace, Fairness, andTrust.

This is where I'm at people - the Bare Essentials.
